Compressed air in aquaculture

As reliable as the tides

Whether on land or at sea, fish farm operators rely on a dependable supply of quality compressed air. From ensuring the required water quality and installing efficient feeding systems to creating protective bubble curtains, compressed air is used in a wide range of aquaculture applications.

As a leading compressed air systems provider, KAESER recognised early on the unique demands of aquatic organism farming and has tailored its compressors, blowers and air treatment components accordingly to meet these specific needs. Thanks to their outstanding efficiency and quality, KAESER systems ensure maximum uptime for 24/7 operation - all while keeping operating costs low.

Today, KAESER compressors and blowers are indispensable across most fish farms, whether offshore or on land, playing a vital role in a wide range of sustainable aquaculture processes. That’s why we offer a dedicated product line specifically engineered for the demanding conditions of aquaculture environments.

Remote monitoring for peace of mind

Many KAESER compressors and blowers are equipped with the integrated SIGMA CONTROL 2 controller. This allows the compressed air supply to be fully monitored via a control room or remote access. If a local control room is not available, the system can be linked to KAESER’s remote monitoring service. This enables potential issues to be detected early based on machine data. In the event of a fault, this data improves first-time-fix rates by identifying likely causes and ensuring the technician arrives with the necessary spare parts - minimising costly downtime. This is particularly crucial in aquaculture, where remote locations and long travel times can present major challenges. The result: increased system availability and reduced operating costs.

Intelligent compressed air control – Remote maintenance with the SIGMA CONTROL 2

As a decentralised intelligence, the SIGMA CONTROL 2 also offers flexible remote maintenance options, helping you keep operations running smoothly, no matter where you are.

Corrosion-resistant design

Lotus-effect protective wax coating provides reliable saltwater resistance.

A wax coating protects the interior from aggressive saltwater.

The farming of aquatic organisms comes with many challenges – one of the biggest being the harsh offshore environment. These harsh conditions present not only challenges for personnel but also place exceptional demands on equipment. In response, KAESER has developed a specialised product line tailored specifically for aquaculture. Among other features, MOBILAIR compressors in the Aquaculture range are equipped with enhanced corrosion protection, including a special wax coating throughout the machines’ internal systems.

Depending on the model, corrosion-resistant PE enclosures, special protection for the control cabinet, and shielded electrical connections are included to withstand exposure to aggressive saltwater.

The coating is based on the marine corrosion protection class C5-M (ISO 12944-2:2018).

Thanks to meticulous surface preparation, a corrosion-resistant primer, and a specially formulated topcoat, the powder coating withstood 1440 hours of salt spray testing - meeting the rigorous requirements of C5-M classification.

Whether in aquaculture or other highly corrosive settings, KAESER’s Aquaculture line is built to handle extreme salt exposure, high humidity, temperature fluctuations, and intense UV radiation - making this equipment ideal for use in the most demanding environments. With several hundred units in operation worldwide, KAESER’s Aquaculture line has proven itself over more than five years and is now firmly established as the industry standard for diesel-powered compressors in the aquaculture industry.

Targeted compressed air treatment helps maintain a healthy fish population.

Preventing disease in healthy stocks: Improve water hygiene with compressed air!

Outstanding quality in your aquaculture products is essential to your business success. Food products are subject to strict regulations - requirements that KAESER meets with a comprehensive range of compressed air treatment components.

Our energy-efficient refrigeration dryers and compressed air filters reliably remove potentially harmful contaminants, delivering clean, high-quality compressed air in accordance with ISO standards. This ensures that the air used in PSA systems for oxygen generation meets the necessary purity requirements without damaging the zeolite material through contamination. Moreover, our extensive portfolio of air treatment components provides effective protection against condensate damage, which could otherwise impair your systems, processes and productivity. This not only safeguards your compressed air supply, but also helps to maintain the health of your fish stocks.
